I am Kaelyn Dicks, a five foot tall African American girl with roots in Nigeria and a home in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been raised primarily around women so I’m most comfortable in similar settings but I refuse to be more uncomfortable in male-dominated environments than is necessary for my safety. I have a love for art of all forms (culinary, visual, combative, etc.) but I choose to indulge myself in drawing and painting specifically when I have the opportunity. I choose to look at life with as positive of an outlook as I can afford to, otherwise I’m mainly a realist.

With all of these attributes I’ve decided that I want to pursue a career in art therapy. Combining my passion for art and my insatiable need to fully understand the human psyche, I believe that becoming a licensed art therapist is the best choice for me.

I heavily believe in the human need for balance in everything we do and so I try to maintain balance in my life the best I can. My current career choice is meant to be a balance between my two main interests and with my hobbies I make sure to participate in activities that I not only find entertaining but that also take part in keeping me healthy. I’m hoping these choices will help me lead a prosperous life.
